The Department of Forestry of Köyceğiz Vocational School made the first student recruitment in 2012-2013 Academic Year and gave its first graduates in June 2014. Forestry and Forest Products have a quota of 60 students education class. About the Program: It is a four-semester higher education program that aims to train qualified manpower to work in the operation and protection of forest resources and also to assist forest engineers. 

Aim of the Program
The aim of this course is to educate professional technical personnel who are capable of working as technical staff in the management of forest resources in a sustainable manner, who comply with the laws and moral rules, value the environment and nature, have high communication power, are open to innovations and are researchers and entrepreneurs.

 Admission Requirements
 Students are placed if they get enough points from Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS-6 Score type).

Period of Study
The duration of associate degree is 2 years (4 semesters). Theoretical and practical courses are available for the students. Applied courses can be done in the laboratories of the school or as field studies. Internship is obligatory for 30 working days in public institutions or private sector during the training period.

Work Areas and Job Opportunities: In order to be appointed as forest protection officers in the provincial organizations of the General Directorate of Forestry, graduation from the associate degree programs of higher education institutions; Forestry management, forestry, forestry products and non-wood forest products departments is required. In order to be appointed as a civil servant for the first time, it is compulsory to get enough points from the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS-Associate Degree) and pass the other examinations to be held by the institution. Therefore, graduates of the program are generally employed in the public sector. In addition, they can work as technical personnel in private sector enterprises where forestry activities are carried out, in factories producing forest products and in companies producing saplings.

   

Vertical Transfers

Graduates of the program can transfer to “Forest Industry Engineering or Forest Engineering” undergraduate programs if they are successful in Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by OSYM. In addition, they can continue to open education undergraduate programs without exams when they start studying in the program or graduate.
